BASICALLY, it seems Jesus arranged matters that way. Why can we say that?? Consider the account recorded in John chapter 11.
Whan Lazarus, a resident of Bethany and a friend of Jesus, fell seriously ill, his sisters sent a word to Jesus, (John 11:1-3) At that time, Jesus was a two day journey or so from Bethany, home to Lazarus and his sisters. (John 10:40). Lazarus evidently died about the time the news of his serious illness reached Jesus. What did Jesus do?? "He remained two days in the place where he was", and then he left for Bethany. (Verses 6,7). Hence, by waiting two days, He arrived at the tomb four days after Lazarus had died. -(Verse 17)
Earlier on, Jesus had performed two resurrections, one right after the death of the person, and the other likely sometime later on the day of the death. (Luke 7:11-17, 8:49-55). Could he raise up someone who had been dead for four days and whose body had already began to decompose??? Interestingly, one Bible reference work says that among the Jews, there was a belief that no hope was possible "for a person who had been dead for four days; By then the body showed recognizable decay, and the soul, which was thought to hover over the body for three days, had left.
If any of those gathered at the tomb had any doubts, they were about to witness Jesus power over death. Standing before the open tomb, Jesus cried out, "Lazarus, come on out!" Then, "The man that had been dead came out". (Verses 43,44). The resurrection, not the false notion of many that the soul lives on afterthe death is the real hope for the dead. --Ezekiel 18:4; John 11:25

Life is strange, and often imponderable. Both the successes and failures in any endeavour have their roots in simple expriences. This might sound as an astounding statement, and all the more so, when we take into consideration the popular belief that success comes to those who work long and hard. But does it always work out that way??
One of the main weaknesses of mankind is the average man's familiarity with the word "Impossible". He just knows all the rules that will NOT work, He knows all the things which CANNOT be done, and he knows all the reason that will make the intended endeavour to fail. But, SUCCESS comes to those who are SUCCESS CONCIOUS, while FAILURE comes to those who are FAILURE CONSCIOUS.
If you believe you are going to fail, you will difinitely fail. If you believe, with purpose of mind that you are going to succeed, you sure will. Thats how all things work, and that is the secret to success and also the foundation of Christianity. FAITH. JESUS Christ, the greatest teacher who ever lived emphasised on this when He said ".....If you have Faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mountain 'Transfer from here to there, and it will will transer, AND NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU" -Matthew 17:20
